The short version
Scapper runs entirely inside your browser, on your computer. We have no servers. We do not collect, receive, sell or share any data about you or the pages you visit. Data only leaves your browser when you yourself save a file.
What Scapper does
Scapper has one purpose: it turns data on web pages you view (lists, tables, and the data behind charts, maps and dashboards) into a spreadsheet file you can save.
What Scapper reads, and when
- Only while the Scapper panel is open. While the panel is open, Scapper watches the data that pages load in your browser (for example the data file a chart is drawn from), so it can offer that data to you as a table. This happens inside the page, on your computer. When you close the panel, Scapper stops watching.
- The page you point at. When you click a chart, list or table, Scapper reads that part of the page to find its data. If it reads values off a chart by hovering, it does so only on the chart you chose.
- Reload and capture (optional). Some pages hide their data from normal page scripts. Only if you click this button and confirm, Scapper uses Chrome's debugger access to read the data the page downloads during one reload. Chrome shows a notice bar while it runs. Access ends a moment after the reload finishes (Scapper waits briefly for late data, and never more than about 20 seconds).
What we collect about you
Nothing. Scapper contains no analytics, no tracking, no advertising and no remote code. It makes no network requests to any server of ours, because we do not run any.
Where your data goes
Data Scapper finds is kept in your browser's memory while you work, and in the files you choose to download. Your settings are saved in your browser's local extension storage. You can delete them at any time by removing the extension. We never see, receive or store any of it.
Limited Use
The use of information received from web pages follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Page data is used only to provide Scapper's single purpose described above. It is never transferred to anyone, never used for advertising, and never sold.
Payments
Scapper is free during early access and has no payment features. If paid plans are added later, this policy will be updated first and will name the payment provider.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
